Emerald agents yarded just over 1600 head at Thursday's weekly sale. A mixed quality offering was presented, with most categories selling either side of last week's rates.
Heavy bullocks reached 289c/kg, 500-550kg steers topped at 288c, with 400-500kg steers topping at 298c to average 285c, 350-400kg steers reached 293c, steers 380-350made to 286c to average 274c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 296c to average 267c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 265c to average 248c, with heifers 350-400kg topping at 246c, while heifers 280-350kg topped at 228c, with heifers in the weaner weight ranges making to 219c to average 190c. Heavy cows made to 225c to average 211c, while cows 450-520kg topped at 215c. No cows and calves were penned today.
The Esmond family, Lucknow, Emerald, sold Droughtmaster cross bullocks to 275c to weigh 678kg $1866. Charlie and Margaret Prince, Janibee, Capella, sold Droughtmaster steers to 291c to weigh 465kg or $1355.
Ian and Terri Grayson, Native Bee, Emerald, sold Brahman cows to 212c to weigh 610kg or $1294. Rob and Kylie Cunningham, Myrtle Park, Comet, sold Santa cross heifers to 257c to weigh 515kg or $1326. Don and Kay Gordon, Burn Meadows, Emerald, sold Brangus cross cows to 203c to weigh 526kg or $1068.
