Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 492 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale, a decrease of 84 head on the previous week. The sale average was back again on last week by up to 20c/kg on prime cattle but prices slightly increased on yearlings.
The yarding consisted of 81 steers averaging 218.2c selling to a top of 268.2c, 201 bulls averaging 147.1c selling to a top of 259.2c, 141 cows averaging 158.5c selling to a top of 188.2c, 48 heifers averaging 164.1c selling to a top of 199.2c, 17 yearling heifers averaging 181.2c selling to a top of 195.2c and four yearling steers averaging 211c selling to a top of 217.2c. The sale was attended by the usual group of buyers and traders.
