Ravenshoe cowboy Rohan Markham is the toast of North West Queensland after taking out his first ever buckle in the open bull ride at the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo.
Markham was first out of the chutes in the final showdown in front of a packed house on Sunday following on from a big Saturday
His flawless eight second ride was worth 85 points for a grand total of 238 that was not to be beaten.
Friday winner Sonny Schafferius notched an 80 point ride next up and that was eclipsed by home town favourite Donovan Rutherford who made 83.5.
But it was the rider that followed who brought the house down - Clermont cowboy Aaron Kleier with an 89 point ride - an all time record for the Isa Rodeo Arena.
But with 174 points over the weekend it was only good enough for third place for Kleier overall.
Kingaroy rider Joshua Jones came into the final round in front, but scored a re-ride after being fouled at the gate.
Jones's second ride lasted eight seconds but his 76.5 points gave him 236.5 falling short of Markham's total by just one and half points.
Kleier backed up for his record ride to win the bull ride in the International Challenge, Australia's only win in a comprehensive 7-1 display from the North Americans in the eight disciplines.
North Americans also made away with buckles in ladies breakaway roping (Shelby Boisjoli) and team roping (Cody McCluskey and Joe Mattern).
In the barebacks Wandoan Dave Worsfold continued his domination with another buckle on 158.5 points ahead of Montana's Jessy Davis on 155 and Deon Lane on 154.
Worsfold won at Mount Isa in 2012 and 2018 and split the win with Fred Osman in 2016.
In the saddle broncs Cody Angland won with 157 points, second was Ben O'Reilly, 152.5 points and third Tom Webster, 151 points.
