With the theme 'Sustain our Future, Invest in our Children', delegates from across Australia were in Adelaide this week for the Isolated Children's Parents' Association 48th annual federal conference.
It was a busy two days for the representatives from WA, Qld, SA, NT and NSW, who were at the Adelaide Oval to discuss a range of topics to ensure children from rural and remote areas of the country are disadvantaged in any way with their education.
Some of the big issues up for debate were hopes for the future of youth allowance, support for those required to attend boarding school, the school curriculum, and early childhood options.
Always in mind was the precarious nature of living in the rural and remote regions, with the ongoing drought and recent flooding in Far North Qld influencing many of the motions and discussions.
The results of this conference will guide the lobbying attentions of ICPA Australia in the next 12 months.
