Just over 1400 cattle were penned at Emerald on Thursday, on the back of the previous week's weaner sale and a fortnight since the last prime offering. Mostly all categories came under stronger competition, with heavy steers over 550kg making to 308c/kg to average 294c, while steers 500-550kg reaching 304c to average 292c, 400-500kg steers topped at 299c to average 289c, while 350-400kg steers topped at 288c to average 269c, steers 280-350kg made to 290c to average 267c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 301c to average 284c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 292c to average 268c, while 350-400kg heifers topped at 251c to average 239c, 280-350kg heifers made to 236c to average 221c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 221c to average 202c.
Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 230c to average 218c, while cows 450-520kg made to 228c to average 215c. No cows and calves were penned.
