Monto's annual store cattle show and sale saw a record yarding of 1868 head presented with those attending the sale commenting on the quality of cattle penned for judge Nigel Onley, Taroom to cast his eye over. Cattle were drawn from Clermont, Biloela, Boyne Valley, Biggenden, Eidsvold, Yandaran and Monto Districts.
Winning pen of heifers suitable for replacement breeders was Ron and Sheena Ogle's Droughtmaster weaner heifers which sold for $470 or 186c/kg. Best pen of heifers suitable for trade heifers were Kacey Sanderson's Charbray weaner heifers 282kg which sold to 190c or $537.
Best pen of steers suitable for trade was McInnes Farming's Angus Santa cross weaner steers 293kg which sold to 264c/kg or $774. Best pen of steers suitable to grow out to Jap ox was won by Will and Susan Appleton with Charbray steers 319kg which sold to 276c or $880.
Champion heifers overall was awarded to Harold Dwyer, Biggenden with Charbray weaner heifers 265kg selling to 191c/kg or $506. Champion steers for the 2019 sale went to Darren and Renee Keitley's Droughtmaster steers 265kg which sold to 268c or $710.
Feeder cattle sold to solid rates with GW Murray selling feeder steers to 274c or $1167. CW and BA Wedemeyer's Santa No 8 steers sold to 268c or $1010. Jason Wyatte penned Charbray steers 346kg which sold for 270c or $935. CW and BA Wedemeyer sold Droughtmaster cross No 8 heifers 340kg for 216c or $735. Les and Anne Marshall's Charbray No 8 heifers returned $840 or 230c.
