THE crowds were out in force for the largest rodeo of the year to be held at Bartlett Park in Townsville on Saturday.
Thousands of people were expected to turn out for the event, held at the Bartlett Park Rodeo grounds in Kelso, which saw some of the best competitors from North Queensland compete for bragging rights.
The 36th annual event included bull riding, saddle bronc, steer wrestling and barrel racing, with entertainment continuing well in to the night.
The event took on a special significance for the Stout family, with the club paying tribute to the late Gary Stout, a much loved member of the Townsville Western Pleasure and Performance Horse Club, who passed away after an accident in February.
His three sisters and extended family travelled far and wide for the memorial night in his memory.
A new grandstand being constructed at the facility will be named in his honour.
