With two weeks between prime sales and on the back of a quality yarding of young cattle last week, just over 950 head were penned at Emerald on Thursday. A yarding with smaller lines on offer prices saw a positive increase from the last combined sale.
Steers over 500kg were too few to reliably quote, with steers 400-500kg making to 265c/kg to average 244c, steers 350-400kg topped at 266c to average 251c, steers 280-350kg made to 266c to average 234c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 252c to average 207.
Heavy heifers over 400kg made to 255c to average 228c, heifers 350-400kg topped at 243c to average 226, 280-350kg heifers reached 218c to average 192c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 232c to average 183c.
Cows over 520kg topped at 194c to average 188c, while cows 450-520kg topped at 188c to average 176c.
Jono and Carmel Tibbles, Westlyn, Orion sold Brangus cross cows to 191c to weigh 600kg or $1147. The Daniels family, Theresa Downs, Emerald sold Droughtmaster cows to 191c to weigh 557kg or $1066.
The Prince family, Janibee, Capella sold Droughtmaster cows to 187c to weigh 514kg or $963. The Sibson family, Cotherstone, Capella sold Brahman cows to 193c to weigh 628kg and return $1214.
