Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 616 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale.
Numbers increased by 382 head on the previous week. Values improved on bulls by up to 18c/kg, heifers up to 10c/kg and steers up to 6c/kg on average across the yarding. This result was achieved with the increase in numbers and better quality across the bullocks and steers presented to the buying panel. The yarding consisted of 158 steers averaging 215.5c/kg selling to a top of 263.2c, 85 bulls averaging 221c selling to a top of 268.2c, 298 cows averaging 126.8c selling to a top of 159.2c, 25 heifers averaging 154.4c selling to a top of 190.2c, 42 yearling steers averaging 223c to a top of 253.2c and eight yearling heifers averaging 174.6c to a top of 200c.
The usual group of local wholesale buyers, meat processors and local growers and fatteners were in attendance.
