Cattle numbers increased last week with 2097 head listed, an increase of 578 head. Queensland buyers continue to look to NSW, purchasing 460 head predominately from the northern tablelands region. A highlight saw 25 Angus weaned steers from Walcha, NSW return 346c. These steers are 8-10 months, weigh 329kgs and will travel 500kms to Jondaryan.
Weaned steers sold from 253c to 337c, averaging 286c. The top price was returned by a line of 82 Angus steers a/c Aurifer Ag, Goondiwindi. These steers are 9-11 months, weigh 180kg and will remain locally.
Averaging 214c weaned heifers sold from 201c to 221c. The top price was returned by a line of 74 Angus heifers a/c Aurifer Ag, Goondiwindi. These heifers are 9-11 months, weigh 170kg and will remain locally. From Laravale a line of 91 Angus cross heifers returned 201c. The heifers are 5-7 months, weigh 165kg and will travel 2000km to Mount Compass, SA. Other highlights saw a line of 26 Red Poll heifers from Springsure return 143c. These heifers are 18-31 months, weigh 280kg and will remain locally.
One line of PTIC heifers sold for $1000. This line of Angus heifers a/c Kyntee Pastoral Company, Goondiwindi, are 21-23 months, 438kg, are PTIC to Wagyu bulls and will remain locally.
One line of cows and calves sold for $1010. This line of Angus and Angus cross cows a/c GFD Lee, Eumamurrin, are 2-4 years of age, weigh 423kg with the 69 CAF sired by Angus bulls and aged 1-6 months, and will remain locally.
SHEEP
Sheep numbers continue to decline with 4620 head listed last week, a decrease of 3352 head. Demand for the listing remains strong with an 84 per cent clearance. 59pc of the listings found buyers interstate in NSW and Victoria.
Merino wether lambs sold for $142.50. This line of 700 lambs, a/c JH Fairfax & Son, Toobeah, are Mumblebone and Karbulla blood, Aug/Oct '18 drop, weigh 39kg and will travel to Dubbo, NSW. From Morven, a line of 480 Australian White wether lambs returned $146. These lambs are Jun/Oct '18 drop, weigh 42kg and will travel to Crookwell, NSW.
Averaging $121, Merino ewes sold from $114 to $125. From Longreach, a line of 850 ewes a/c JH and SK Milson returned the top price. These ewes are 4-6 years, weigh 58kg, are station mated to Merino rams and will remain in Qld. A line of 550 ewes from Muttaburra returned $114. These ewes are Mt Ascot and Lansdowne blood, 2-4 years, weigh 45kg and will travel to Tibooburra, NSW.
Merino ewe lambs sold for $110.50. This line of 330 lambs, a/c JH Fairfax & Son, Toobeah, are Aug/Oct drop, Mumblebone and Karbulla blood, weigh 34kg and will travel to Koorawatha, NSW. Other highlights saw a line of 650 White Dorper and Dorper cross ewe lambs from Thallon return $130. These ewes are Boonoon blood, Oct/Nov '18 drop, weigh 31kg and will travel 1300kms to Mildura, VIC.
