With a slight increase in numbers and with the show sale fast approaching, Thursday's yarding saw just under 900 head on offer with quality being very mixed across all categories. Heavy bullocks over 550kg made to 275c/kg, with steers 500-550kg making to 276c to average 259c, 400-500kg steers made to 240c with the limited number on offer, 350-400kg steers topped at 271c to average 247c, while steers in the 200-350kg ranges eased mainly due to quality.
Heifers 350kg and over made to 213c, with light weight heifers once again easing on the back of the quality on offer. Heavy cows saw the best results for the day with cows over 520kg making to 184c to average 176c, while cows 450-520kg made to 185c to average 162c. A small lot of cows and calves to $1010/unit.
Highlights: Rhonda Ryan, Banyula, Emerald sold Braford steers to 262c to weigh 291kg or $763. Mike and Sue McCosker, Lake Nash, Emerald sold Angus heifers to 217c to weigh 595kg or $1292. The Prewett family, Glendariwell, Emerald sold Brangus cows to 173c to weigh 514kg or $890.
