The open days are set be spread over six days from July 20 to 26, taking in studs from central Queensland right down to the south east corner.

With entries closing on May 31, interested studs are urged to get in touch with the Queensland Country Life to learn how to get involved.

The open days are designed as a low cost, high value way of letting studs show off their cattle.

Cattle for upcoming sales and show teams can be seen on-property, giving prospective buyers a greater insight into the product, while studs will benefit by letting the Queensland Country Life team do the hard yards to promote the events.

The geographical grouping of the open days makes it easy for prospective buyers to make a day of it, by taking a roadtrip to the studs that most interest them.

Colleen and Dave Smith, Vale View Droughtmasters, are among the stud principals who have signed up to take part in the open days once again.

"It's a really good opportunity to view the cattle in their home environment," she said.

"People being able to see what you do is a big thing for buyers.

"It's always very busy, there's people coming and going throughout the day."

Ms Smith said the steady flow of visitors could translate into immediate purchases, or greater interest going into the upcoming sales.

"It's a bit of both really," she said.

"People will just come and have a look and maybe at the next sale they'll follow a particular bull, and if they miss out they might come back to buy afterwards.

"It's a win-win for us."

The relaxed approach of the open days allows for in-depth cattle inspections and discussion away from the pressures of shows and sales, with a touch of country hospitality thrown in for good measure.

Studs can tailor their format to best suit their situation, some with sale bulls and females on display and others with a wider spectrum of herd overview.
