Competitors from across Qld and the NT will converge at the Charters Towers Indoor Equestrian Arena for the Curley Cattle Transport Horse of the North (HOTN) challenge on May 23 - 25.
HOTN secretary Melissa Salmond said the committee strive to better the event each year to create a great atmosphere for riders and guests.
"Word of mouth is certainly the main mode of transport and by treating our competitors well, they reward us with their continued and growing support," she said.
"We also have a fantastic group of loyal and enthusiastic sponsors that we can never thank enough for annually supporting the HOTN."
Ms Salmond said she'd received several phone calls from newcomers wanting to find out all they can about this year's HOTN, and believes there will be a slight rise in competitor numbers this year due to the sports' growing popularity."
She said running the HOTN in conjunction with the Toomba Invitational Horse Sale has also proven to be a valuable partnership in attracting competitors from outside of the region.
"They can pick up quality horses and bring them back to the HOTN to try and win the available incentives.
Ms Salmond said a charity auction will be held on the Saturday night, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to Ken May to help aid in his recovery from the stroke he suffered last year.
"Ken has been a wonderful supporter of HOTN each year as a competitor and a sponsor."
In an event first the HOTN finals on the Saturday night will be live streamed.
"We're very excited to be able to share the HOTN atmosphere, with people from all across the country."
"For those making the trip, gate entry is free and there will be trade stalls, entertainment and lots of action in the arena over the four days."
