Eidsvold Livestock and Property held their fortnightly prime and store sale at Eidsvold on Wednesday April 10, with a yarding of 612 head. The yarding consisted of some very good weaners which were drawn from Theodore, Cracow and local vendors. The market remained strong for prime cattle and weaner steers, however, weaner heifer prices were most affected. A good representation of meatworks buyers and re-stockers were in attendance.
Steers 200-300kg sold to 290c, steers 300-400kg sold to 305c, and steers 400-500kg sold to 287c. Heifers 300-400kg sold to 244c, while heifers 400-500kg sold to 238c. Cows over 520kg sold to 215c and bulls over 600kg sold to 234c.
Simbrah steers from Cracow sold for 305c at 348kg returning $1062/head. Braford steers from Theodore sold for 284c at 395kg returning $1123/head, also sold Braford heifers for 244c at 360kg returning $879/head.
Charbray cross steers from Theodore sold for 286c at 323kg returning $926/head. Charbray steers from Eidsvold sold for 290c at 282kg returning $818/head, also sold Charbray meatworks cows for 215c at 561kg returning 1209/ head.
Santa cross heifers from Eidsvold sold for 238c at 418kg returning $996/head, while from Monto Charbray cross steers sold for 272c at 270kg returning $735/head.
A Santa Gertrudis bull from Mt Perry sold for 234c at 960kg returning $2248/head.
