Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded 1040 head on Wednesday. Cattle consisted of 421 prime cattle and 619 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 132 bullocks, 38 heifers, 167 cows and 84 bulls. Store cattle consisted of 202 steers, 389 heifers and 28 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised good lines of fat cattle that sold well compared with last week's results. The yarding was drawn from Georgetown, Mt Garnet, Chillagoe, Mt Isa, Belyando as well as local and coastal areas.

Heavy bullocks were quoted as 16c dearer, heifers were 15c dearer, cows were 25c dearer and bulls were 30c easier compared to previous rates.
Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 283.2c and averaged 243.7c, and those over 500kg topped at 286.2c to average 266.8c. Heifers under 440kg sold to 246.2c and averaged 227.2c, while heifers over 440kg topped at 267.2c, averaging 245.9c. Cows under 400kg made 191.2c and averaged 128.9c, while cows over 400kg reached 230.2c, averaging 215.5c. Bulls under 450kg made 284.2c and averaged 250.6c, while bulls over 450kg reached 285.2c to average 231c.
Bullocks topped at 281.2c for seven head sold on a/c M and T Toohey that weighed 601kg to return $1691/head.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Khartoum Pastoral Co that sold 240.2c and weighed at 441kg to return $1059/head.
The top pen of cows were sold by Glenell Grazing for 219.2c and weighed 560kg to return $1227/head. Bulls sold on a/c G and K Fryer topped at 285.2c and weighed 695kg, to return $1982/head.

Store cattle were made up of lines of quality store steers, with a large run of good quality heifers being presented on a/c Cunningham Cattle Co.
Steers under 200kg reached 290c to average 285.7c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 295.2c, averaging 246.7c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 250.2c and averaged 225.9c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 258.2c and averaged 216.2c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 226.2c, averaging 194.6c, heifers 320 - 370kg made 219.2c to average 208.1c, while heifers over 370kg sold to 200c, averaging 200c.
A pen of 16 steers a/c S and T Golding made 294.2c and weighed 300kg, returning an average of $882/head.
A good pen of 25 heifers a/c Cunningham Cattle Co made 220.2c, weighed 300kg and returned an average of $660/head. 23 Cows and Calves sold on a/c BN Young returned at $920/unit.
