RAIN fueled Queensland buyers proved the power behind George and Fuhrmann's day two Casino weaner sale, lifting prices by as much as 30c/kg live on last week's sale.
Buyers from Moura, St George, Blackall, Wandoan and Goondiwindi jumped into the 1400 head sale following the big rain across parts of Queensland.
The champion pen of steers cam from father and son team Paul and Stephen Boland, East Coraki, who had 50 head in the sale. The Boland's top 412kg pen made 300c to return $1196.
The champion pen of heifers was from Wayne and Deanne Hall, Homeleigh via Kyogle. The Charolais/Salers-cross heifers.
Sale standout was a pen of Limousin-cross steers which made an impressive 329c, selling to Kindon Feedlot, Goondiwindi.
The general run of steers made 280-300c with plenty into the 300c. Heifers generally made 270-290c.
Selling continues with 1500 top quality Bos indicus weaners on day three of the annual Casino sales tomorrow.
