Angus cross weaner steers sell to 270c at Gracemere


There was a yarding of 1858 head at Gracemere on Friday, where descriptions held firm on last week and heifers saw a 20c increase.


There was a yarding of 1858 head at Gracemere on Friday, comprising 973 steers, 649 heifers, 189 cows, 11 bulls and 36 cow and calf units. The market remained firm to slightly dearer for quality cows. Second grade steers met with strong competition and increased market, while remaining descriptions held firm on last week. Heifers saw a 20c increase across all descriptions.

Slaughter steers sold to 267.2c, average 264c, steers 400-500kg made 263.2c, average 259.2c, steers 300-400kg reached 258.2c, average 247.7c, steers 200-300kg made 270.2c, average 243.4c and steers under 200kg sold to 264.2c, average 235.6c.

Slaughter cows sold to 212.2c, average 150c, cows 400-450kg made 162.2c, average 137c, cows 320-400kg reached 146.2c, average 124.1c, and cows under 320kg made 90c, average 51c.

Heavy heifers sold to 216.2c, average 216.2c, heifers 300-400kg made 238.2c, average 209.6c, heifers 200-300kg reached 218.2c, average 187.5c, and heifers under 200kg made 200c, average 177.2c.

Bulls over 600kg made 282.2c, average 258.9c, and bulls under 450kg sold to 270c, average 202.2c.

Hillcrest Pastoral Co, Middlemount, sold a line of Brahman steers to top at 265c, weighing 567kg to return $1505/hd.

Wildman Partnership, Gogango, sold Brangus steers to top at 267c, weighing 517kg to return $1382/hd

LG Davis, Ubobo, sold Brahman steers for 263c, weighing 438kg to return $1149/hd.

Deepview Pty Ltd, Garnant, sold quality Angus cross weaner steers to 270c, weighing 256kg to return $693/hd.
