A reduced yarding of 2640 head were penned at Gracemere on Friday, comprising 1360 steers, 670 heifers, 550 cows, 50 bulls and 60 cow and calf lots. Cattle were drawn from mostly local areas south to Theodore and coastal areas to GinGin. It was a mixed yarding, however on the whole quality and condition were good. Cattle fitting meatworks descriptions eased considerably, however prices for good quality feeder and restocker cattle held firm.
Slaughter steers sold to 259c, average 240c, steers 400-500kg made 254c, average 237c, steers 300-400kg reached 256c, average 222c, steers 200-300kg made 254c, average 203c and steers under 200kg sold to 246c, average 197c.
Slaughter cows sold to 156c, average 128c, cows 400-450kg made 196c, average 116c, cows 320-400kg reached 155c, average 83c, and cows under 320kg made 88c, average 78c.
Heavy heifers sold to 222c, average 148c, heifers 300-400kg made 224c, average 148c, heifers 200-300kg reached 202c, average 159c, and heifers under 200kg made 172c, average 124c.
Cows and calves sold to $780/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 272c, average 203c, bulls 450-600kg reached 276c, average 188c and bulls under 450kg sold to 274c, average 189c.
