Numbers dropped by nearly 600 with 3400 penned at Emerald on Thursday. Even with the much better offering of cows and store stock, this did little to lessen the decrease in rate from last week. Prime cattle seemed to be the hardest hit, while feeder cattle were cheaper, they have been the most resilient.
Bullocks over 550kg, few in numbers, sold to 239c to average 236c, there were no heavy steers 500-550kg to quote, heavy heifers over 400kg reached 187c to average 167c, heavy cows over 520kg topped at 146c to average 133c, 450-520kg cows made as much as 130c to average 123c, while heavy bulls sold to 185c.
In the store section, heavy feeder steers over 400kg sold to 252c to average 237c, 350-400kg steers topped at 250c to average 220c, 280-350kg steers peaked at 234c to average 202c, weaner steers made as much as 250c to average 199c, while light steers under 200kg sold to 252c.
Trade feeder heifers 350-400kg sold to 207c to average 197c, 280-350kg heifers topped at 200c to average 174c, weaner heifers 200-280kg made as much as 196c to average 156c, while light heifers under 200kg peaked at 170c. Four small lots of cows and calves offered this week, saw a pen of Charbray cows with Euro cross calves, ready to wean selling for $540.

Fred Peters, Millthorpe, Springsure sold Droughtmaster steers to 238c to weigh 515kg or $1226. Steve and Alison Kajewski, Bettafield, Gindie sold Charolais cows to 146c to weigh 578kg or $846. Ron and Sandra Booker, Rons Retreat, Yamala sold Charolais cross steers to 218c to weigh 298kg or $651.
Will and Tanya Shaw, Billabong Plains, Comet sold Brahman cows to 144c to weigh 610kg or $878. Phil and Donna Lewis, Hillview, Anakie sold Droughtmaster bullocks to 236c weighing 620kg or $1466. Richard and Vicki Hawkins, Bonaccord, Anakie sold Droughtmaster steers to 252c to weigh 431kg or $1087.
