FACED with the challenge of working in a 24/7 business, Kieren and Andrea Luck decided to create a getaway right on their own farm.
The Luck's, who operate the specialist Bannock Brae Meats butchering business in addition to running their own farm, made the bold decision to transform an old barn into a rural retreat.
Two years later and the result is stunning.
The former dilapidated old barn is now a rustic, open plan space ideally suited for an overnight or weekend getaway.
"It's just a great place for us to escape to," Andrea said.
"Is was very hard to escape from us. This gives us a space where are not interrupted."
Kieren agreed, saying the completed project had exceeded expectations.
"The beauty is there are no phone here," he said. "It's just peace and quiet."
Much of the material used in the cottage came from a old homestead on the property.
"We were able to recycle a lot of the timber and iron," Kieren said. "It's great to see it all come together so well."
Erinvale Cottage will be opened up for farmstay visitors in the near future.
