Wagyu/Angus cross feeder steers hit 330c on AuctionsPlus


There were 988 cattle and 9297 sheep offered on AuctionsPlus this week.


Cattle numbers remained steady on AuctionsPlus this week, totalling 988 head listed, a decrease of 81. Clearance dropped this week, with 45 per cent achieved. Local purchasing was strong, with all lots remaining in Queensland.

One line of 32 weaned heifers sold for 200c. These Wagyu/Angus heifers are 289kg, 8-11 months old and will travel from Millmerran to Pitsworth.

A line of yearling steers sold for 280c. These Angus cross steers are 265kg, 9-12 months old and will travel from Proston to Baralaba. 

Feeder steers sold from 281c to 330c. Top price was achieved by a line of 28 Wagyu/Angus cross feeder steers from Chinchilla. The steers are 352kg, 12-14 months old and will travel to Proston.

One line of 37 crossbred Wagyu F1 50pc feeder heifers sold for 300c. These heifers are 330kg, 12-14 months old and will travel from Chinchilla to Proston.

Two lines of cows and calves sold this week averaging $830/head. Highlights include 57 Santa Gertrudis and Santa cross station mated cows and calves from Chinchilla. The cows are 408kg, mixed ages with the calves at foot sired by Drensmaine Santa Gertrudis bulls, 1-20 weeks and averaging 82kg.

Highlights for PTIC heifers include a line of 52 PTIC heifers from Blackall selling for $1010. These heifers are 431kg, 22-28 months of age and are joined to Brangus bulls.

Sheep numbers totalled 9297 head, a decrease of 5531. Clearance saw a slight increase to 49pc. NSW buyers continue to make their presence felt, purchasing 3451 head. Highlights include a line of 670 second cross Nudie mixed sex store lambs from Augathella travelling over 900km to Dubbo, NSW for $60/head. These lambs are 29kg, Aug/Sep ’18 drop.

Lamb highlights include a line of 440 White Suffolk and Coolalee Merino cross mixed sex lambs from Goondiwindi selling for $99. The lambs are 35kg, Aug/Sep ’18 drop and will travel to Condobolin, NSW.

Merino ewes sold from $87 to $106. Top price was achieved by two lines of 545 NSM Merinos from Thallon. These ewes are 52kg, 5.5-5.6 years old, have a 2.1” skin and will travel to Wellington, NSW.

A line of 600 Dorper ewe lambs from Augathella sold for $73. These ewe lambs are 22kg, Oct/Nov ’18 drop and will travel to Tenterfield, NSW.

Flock ram highlights include six lines of first cross Meatmaster/Composite and Australian White/Composite rams from Surat selling for $100. The rams are 17-23 months, 61kg and will all travel to Bourke, NSW.
