HORSCH have announced no-till seed drill Avatar will now be available with a triple hopper.
Referred to as the Tripletank, the new hopper system will be made available on both the three and four metre drills.
Horsch said Tripletank will allow for sowing two crops simultaneously, while also metering fertiliser, or could be used for individual species when sowing mixed forage crops.
According to the specifications the new system consists of three separate successive chambers with a total capacity of 3800 litres.
The company said the hopper capacity is divided into a 60:10:30 ratio.
“For the Avatar SD with 6 and 8 metre working width Horsch offers a micro-granular unit for starter fertiliser or slug pellets as well as a for one more component,” it said.
“In this case, the third tank will be integrated in the main hopper and be equipped with a special micro-granular metering device or with a standard metering device for seed and fertiliser.”
The company said two distribution towers are used, with the customer able to decide whether they want one half-width piping per distribution tower or a piping system that supplies every coulter row individually.
“The first version allows for a mechanic or electronic half-width shut-off to minimise overlapping especially in corners or pointed fields,” it said.
“If the customer opts for the second version, each of the two coulter rows can be fed with a different crop which can then be placed precisely in different depth according to the requirements of the seed.”
