A PRECISION partnership has resulted in a summer crop planter loaded with technology direct from the factory.
Machinery company, Case IH have joined forces with Agco’s planter technology company, Precision Planting to engineer the new Early Riser 2000 series to incorporate new seeder technologies as a standard.
Case IH, product manager planting, Andrew Kissel said the first of the series, the Early Riser 2130 stack-fold had just landed in Australia.
“We took the position that this planter needed to leave the factory with everything the customer needs for their operation,” he said.
“It needs to be the complete product on arrival, rather than having to make the initial purchase and incur the additional costs of technology add-ons.”
Mr Kissel said the planter had a great fit for summer crop planting.
“Summer crops like cotton and sorghum will be our primary market to start,” he said.
“We are looking at corn as well with plans to start investigating alternative markets that we have seen positive agronomic results with in our trials.”
Mr Kissel said while the technology was important, the base design of the Early Riser was still its strongest feature.
“The technology allows us to understand what’s happening and control the environment to some extent, but the row unit itself and its components, the steel, the rubber on the bottom end of the machine, that’s what really makes the difference," he said.
Mr Kissel said the series had been named the Early Riser because it resulted in faster, more uniform emergence in a wide variety of crops.
“If you look at the long-term benefits of this, it directly impacts yields, profitability, weed control, it affects the entire operation,” he said.
Mr Kissel said a number of demonstration events were planned for NSW, QLD and WA in the coming months, the first on November 9 at distributor Wideland Ag, Dalby, Queensland.
“This is an exciting new offering from Case IH to Australian producers, and we’re proud to be able to present a design and technology package unmatched within the planter market,” he said.
“It starts with the rugged row unit that has a tried and tested design. With the factory integration of the industry’s best planter technologies.
“It all adds up to a product that will not only enhance, but redefine the productivity gains and efficiencies that can be achieved.”
Mr Kissel said features of the new Early Riser 2130 include improved soil opening and closing systems, increased vertical travel and row-by-row planting and shut-off.
