With some falls of rain in the local district and a market on the incline, just under 1900 cattle were yarded at Emerald on Thursday with a much stronger market throughout all categories.
Heavy bullocks over 550kg reached 306c to average 302c, steers 500-550kg made to 310c to average 305c, with steers 400-500kg making to 304c to average 296c, 350-400kg steers topped at 299c to average 293c, 280-350kg steers reached 295c to average 287c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 314c to average 280c.
Over 400kg heifers topped at 287c to average 282c, while heifers 350-400 topped at 259c to average 254c, with heifers 280-350kg making to 278c to average 268c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 285c to average 255c.
Cows over 520kg topped at 245c and averaged 237c, while 450-520kg cows topped at 238c to average 221c. No cows and calves were penned this week.
Lloyd and Margaret Hanrahan, Palari, Comet sold Brahman bullocks to 310c to weigh 529kg or $1641, while Dean Eyles Capella consigned Santa cross steers to 294c and weighed 431kg or $1269. Mike and Vicki Donovan, Coolibah, Capella offered Charolais cross steers reaching 299c to weigh 425kg and $1271, while the Sloan family, Stanley Park, Anakie consigned Droughtmaster cross heifers to 278c to weigh 301kg and return $839.
Andrew and Marlene Slack, Mayview, Emerald sold Droughtmaster cross heifers reaching 278c to weigh 341kg and returned $948, while the Stevenson family, Moonoomoo, Pentland sold Simmental cross heifers reaching 241c to weigh 245kg and rcturned $592. Shane Goodwin, Malthoid, Capella sold Brahman cross Cows to 238c to weigh 548kg and $1306.
