Cattle numbers dropped to 401 head this week, a decrease of 623. Clearance also dropped to 71 per cent. This week also saw over 450 head travel from the NT and NSW into Qld.
Highlights included a line of 160 Droughtmaster cross heifers from Tennant Creek, NT making a nearly 2000km journey to Rolleston, while Angus cows and calves from Mudgee, NSW are set to travel 700km to Greenmount.
Rocking Chair Ranch, Wandoan, offered a line of 56 Angus yearling steers which returned 346c or $1025. These steers are 12-15 months and weigh 296kgs, with sires from Jondaryan and Sarum Angus studs.
Weaned steers were in short supply, with only two lots offered from SW and P Warner, Eulo. A line of 47 Beefmaker cross steers sold for 291c. These steers weigh 166kg and are 6-10 months old. The vendor also offered 72 Beefmaker cross steers which returned 290c. Weighing 232kg, these steers are 8-14 months.
From Tara, L & N Walsh offered two lines of Droughtmaster cross heifers which both returned 235c. The two lines consisted of 25 heifers, 13-18 months in age and weighing 277kg, while the second line of 20 heifers are 13-17 months and weigh 202kg.
Allan Atkinson Investments, Taroom, offered a line of 35 Droughtmaster heifers, with five calves at foot, which returned $1535. These heifers are 20-24 months and weigh 424kg. The five calves are 1-3 weeks old and are sired by Mungalla Droughtmaster bulls. These heifers have been joined to Droughtmaster bulls.
From Tara, Oakvale Angus offered a line of 28 cows and 29 calves, which returned $1510. Weighing 540kg, these cows are 5-7 years old. The 29 calves are 10-16 weeks old and weigh 109kg.
Ogg & Co, Winton, offered the only line of sheep available from Queensland this week. The 880 Merino ewes sold for $60, and will travel nearly 1500km to Wellington, NSW. Weighing 42kg, these ewes are 6-7 years old and bred from Lansdowne and Barcaldine Downs bloodlines. These ewes are not station mated and were shorn in August.
