Most categories saw an increase in rate at Emerald sale on Thursday.

With the forecast of rain on the horizon numbers fell to just over 850 head at the Emerald prime and store sale on Thursday. With a similar quality yarding to previous weeks evident, mostly all categories saw an increase in rate.

Bullocks over 550kg made to 296c/kg to average 292c, while steers 500-550kg made to 289c to average 281c, steers 400-500kg reached 283c to average 270c, 350-400kg steers topped at 273c to average 268c. Steers 280-350kg made to 284c to average 267c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 305c to average 282c.

Heifers over 40kg topped at 259c to average 256c, heifers 350-400kg made to 234c to average 211c, 280-350kg heifers reached 243c to average 229c,  while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 233c to average 221c.

Cows over 520kg made to 235c to average 232c, while cows 450-520kg also made to to 235c and averaged 230c. No cows and calves were present.

The Esmond family, Lucknow, Emerald sold Charolais cross bullocks to 296c to weigh 623kg or $1846. Charlie and Margaret Prince, Janibee, Capella sold Droughtmaster steers to 289c to weigh 525kg or $1518. The Agius family, Paradise Downs, Clermont sold Charolais cross steers to 272c to weigh 488kg and $1329. 

Robbie and Veronica Ryan, BridgeFlats, Emerald sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 279c to weigh 252kg or $704. Jono and Carmel Tibbles, Westlyn, Orion sold Euro cross heifers weighing 453kg and sold to 262c to return $1188. The Moriarty family, Echidna Valley, Emerald sold Droughtmaster cross heifers to 259c to weigh 503kg or $1305.
