FIVE wallabies have been found shot dead at Townsville’s James Cook University campus.

Two dead wallabies were found at the Douglas campus overnight, suffering from apparent gun shot wounds.

It is the second attack in less than a week and comes after three dead wallabies were found, also with gunshot wounds, on the same campus on October 5.

Police were notified for the second attack this morning and are investigating.

A JCU spokesman said the dead wallibies were found on a sports field.

He said JCU was assisting police with their investigations.

Anyone with information about the attacks is urged to contact police.

It comes after four Merino ewes were shot dead on a farm south of St George on Monday.

The dead sheep were found on Monday morning on a property about 30km south of St George.

They had all been shot in their paddock.

Two of the ewes were heavy in lamb, and the other had lambs on them.
