It was a dream come true for Steve and Theresa Taylor, Clukan Brahmans, Jambin, when their grey 25-month-old sire Clukan Axel 333/7 (AI) (ET) (P) sold for the top price of $100,000.
Clukan Axel sold for three-quarter share and full possession plus 50 straws of semen to Kelvin and Libby and Ron and Grace Harriman, GI Brahmans, Muttaburra.
Clukan Axel is a son of NCC El Toro (IVF) from Clukan Destiny 254 who is the Taylor’s leading polled donor in their embryo transfer program.
“It was back in 2010 I said to Steve that I would like to use some polled genetics, to which he replied ‘good luck with that’,” Mrs Taylor said.
“It was those words that challenged me to breed something special, and I worked with my best cow Clukan Edwina 073 who is the grand dam of Clukan Destiny.”
Kelvin Harriman said the bull really appealed as he is polled, has heaps of bone and has good depth of body.
The Harrimans plan to use him by AI and will natural mate him next year.
