All members of the vibrant Gulf community are welcome and encouraged to attend the Gulf Cattleman’s Dinner, being held in Georgetown on Saturday, October 13.
Gulf Cattleman’s Association (GCA) president Barry Hughes said each year they hold an event with the aim of bringing the regions beef producers and town residents closer together.
He said the GCA, along with the Northern Gulf Resource Management Group and the Gulf Grazing Community will use the occasion to acknowledge the contributions of Joe Rolfe and Bernie English through their work as DAF Extension Officers.
“During the dinner we’ll present Joe and Bernie with a testimonial honouring their efforts and the valuable support they provide for primary producers across this region,” Mr Hughes said.
“Their combined efforts have provided support mechanisms to the Gulf cattle industry through floods, fire and drought events over the last decades,” he said.
“Joe and Bernie’s work has provided cattle industry members with the knowledge to improve their operations, and given us information and access to a vast array of new initiatives relating to land and livestock management.”
Mr Hughes said just recently their work with fellow DAF colleagues has included a Next Generation Mentoring Program that has been successfully implemented across the Northern and Southern Gulf region.
“We look forward to your attendance to what will most certainly be a night of good conversation, great food and entertainment and a chance to unwind and relax among like-minded people.”
