There were 614 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market was stronger for all types, with feeder cattle and cows selling to strong competition. Younger cattle improved, with several new buyers in operation.
John Campion, Foxleigh, Middlemount, sold Simbrah cross steers for $1500-$1680, cows for $1350, lines of steers, 14-16 months for $775-$1010 and lines of heifers for $700-$800. Graeme Duncan, Ma Ma Creek, sold a line of 12-month-old Charbray steers for $1085. Paul Steffens, Tenthill, sold a Charolais bull for $1800, Charolais cows for $1150 and milk tooth steers for $1300.
Pat Collingwood and Rosie Hart, Murphys Creek, sold a line of medium Charbray cows for $1000. Ron Monro, Mt Tarampa, sold Friesian steers for $1170-$1340, 16-month-old steers for $1100 and a 20-month-old Droughtmaster bull for $1400. Ian Roberts, Ma Ma Creek, sold Brangus steers, 18 months, for $1150 and Charolais weaner steers for $770. Col and Margaret Duncan, Flagstone, sold Charolais cows to $1100 and weaners steers for $655.
Curtin Family Trust, Ma Ma Creek, sold Droughtmaster vealer calves for $640. Elijah Gutt, Regency Downs, sold Droughtmaster steer calves for $500. Kevin and Del Koplick, Forest Hill, sold 15 month old Braford heifers for $950. Robin Goltz, Caffey, sold Charbray heifers for $890. David Molkentien, Lowood, sold milk tooth steers for $1210.
