PULLING the dead weight of a 90 year-old John Deere tractor seems like something you might see in better wetter years due to a bogging, however at the Henty Machinery Field Days it is just part of the action.
Albury strong-woman, Scout Symons has already made one successful attempt in the name of her sport and will attempt twice more to the cheers of onlookers at the antique machinery exhibition area on Thursday.
Ms Symons said she has pulled a number of large machines in the past and the tractor was the next step.
“It sort of came about from another sport, I was doing power lifting, so that is your squat, your bench and your dead-lift,” she said.
“From there I just went to a gym and tried the sport of ‘strong man’, there are lots of different implements, including pulling different things like trucks, so I thought why not give a tractor a go at Henty.”
Henty Machinery Field Days run until 5pm Thursday, 8km east of Henty, NSW.
