An outstanding 251-lot catalogue has been assembled for the 42nd ABCA sponsored Rockhampton Brangus Sale being held on Monday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 9, at CQLX Gracemere.
ABCA committee member Edward Quinn, Voewood Brangus, Calliope, said despite the tough seasonal conditions confidence in the sale remains strong.
“We have 39 studs offering drafts, which is up on 2017, spread between NSW to the south, Atherton in the north, and Condamine and Emerald to the west, and we’ve also catalogued close to 20 more bulls this year,” Edward said.
He said buyer confidence in the sale has also continued to grow over the years.
“The unrivalled genetic diversity available in the largest draft of Brangus cattle offered at one place, and one time in the country each year, makes attending the sale an appealing proposition for commercial and stud producers,” he said.
“All sale lots are backed by the ABCA Standard of Excellence, so buyers can rest easy knowing the bulls and females they purchase will perform favourably once they’re in the paddock.”
Edward said maintaining a high clearance rate for the sale is the main priority in the current circumstances.
“First-rate cattle always sell no matter the conditions, and the 2018 draft is full of quality from start to finish.”
The sale action will begin on Monday morning with close to 400 high-quality commercial Brangus females being sold, after which, 42 registered females and one semen package will be sold in the ring at CQLX.
Edward said that due to the Due to the dry weather and limited female numbers, the Elders Legacy of Ladies sale won’t be going ahead this year, though it’s expected to return in 2019 if conditions improve.
“We’ll still be having a meet and greet on Monday night, and the three sale agents Elders, SBB and Ray White have kindly donated drinks and nibbles for the event.”
Selling will resume on the Tuesday morning with 188 registered bulls and 20 herd bulls to go under the hammer.
All sale bulls will be weighed and scanned on-site at CQLX, and semen tested by accredited vets the day prior to the sale, and a percentage of them will also have morphology results available. Inspections of the sale lots can also be conducted from the Sunday afternoon onward.
Those unable to make it to the sale can use the RLX bidding platform to livestream the action and bid online.
Edward said the sale catalogue is available on the ABCA website, and physical copies are now in the post or can be obtained by contacting the ABCA office or your preferred selling agent.
