THE Ayr Charolais bull sale was held on-property at Mungabunda, Moura, on Monday and saw a complete clearance of 112 bulls offered.
Overall, bulls sold for an average of $4906.
With a consistent draft of bulls lined up for the day, George, Ruth, David and Kellie Cass saw a total gross of $549,000 with a 100 per cent clearance. Three bulls equally topped the sale and sold for $10,000 early in the catalogue.
Lot 6, Ayr R.E’s Irvyn, was first to top the sale for the day and selling for $10,000 to Chris Mahon, Bellfield, Moura.
R.E Irvyn , a 27-month-old bull, recorded a weight of 982kg and boasting an eye muscle area of 142 square centimetres with a scrotal circumference of 42cm. Sired by Ayr Relief’s Egypt (Ayr H250F) and out of Ayr Hughes’s Irena (Ayr D47F).
Mr Mahon also secured a further three bulls for his Moura property at a gross of $26,500 to average a solid $6625.
Next to top the sale at $10,000 was Lot 9 on account of Chas and Judy Nobbs, Cordelia, Moura paying top dollar for the 27 month-old Ayr Nick’s Midland.
Midland, sired by Ayr Elfin’s Nick ( Ayr J293F) and out of Ayr Elgata’s Miriam, weighed in at a hefty 994 kilograms with an impressive scrotal circumference of 45cm with a big EMA of 151sq cm.
Adding again to the local Charbray herd at Cordelia saw Chas and Judy Nobbs snap up the third top priced bull, Ayr R.E’s Sutcliff, for again $10,000.
Sutcliff bull, sired also by Ayr Relief’s Egypt and out of Ayr Ireland’s Susann E8E, is a 25 month-old bull with a recorded weight of 948kgs.
Second top was reached twice at $9000 for Lot 1 Ayr R.E’s Rikta, a young 25-month-old bull weighing 928kgs with an EMA of 146sq cm, plus boasting a scrotal circumference of 41cm and selling to P and J Furhnmann, Casino, NSW.
Lot 14 Ayr R.E’s Nathan also sold for $9000 to Lisa McKinlay, Melaleuca,Gogango. R.E’s Nathan at just 26-months of age recorded a weight of 944kgs with a 41cm scrotal circumference and an a significant EMA of 153sq cm.
Lisa McKinlay was one of many volume buyers on the day seeing a total of five bulls purchased for the Gogango stable to gross $37,000 and average $7400.
A very strong representation of buyers from New South Wales were present in the stands at the Moura property, which saw 57 of the 112 bulls find homes throughout Casino and Dorrigo.
Volume buyer Geoff Yates, Casino place an order of 14 bulls to gross $54,000 to average $3857. A further nine bulls will find homes at the Hidden Hills property in Casino with the pastoral company paying an average of $4888. Meanwhile, the Furhmann family, Casino secured eight bulls to gross $37,000, averaging $4625. The Love family, Crystal Creek also made the trip to take home seven bulls to gross $27,500 with an average of $3928.
Ayr Charolais principal David Cass said he could not be happier with a complete clearance of sale bulls.
As the dust settled for the day, all four vendors were left smiling from ear to ear as they thanked their repeat buyers who continue to make the drive and buy the Cass bulls each year.
