Australian breed records tumbled at Monday’s annual 5 Star Senepol Sale at CQLX Gracemere.
For vendors, Geoff and Alison Maynard and family, 5 Star Senepol Stud, Jambin the sale saw their a new breed record established at $27,000 and bulls to all parts of Queensland and also Western Australia.

Average values came back by $357 per head when compared to the 2017 sale, while clearance levels were virtually the same when compared to the same period.
Buyers focus were Senepols, providing the vendors with a bottom line average of $7425 for the 40 entries on offer.
Seven three quarter Senepol/one quarter Shorthorn bulls topped out at $6500, while six Senegus bulls hit $7000 and six Senelais entries peaked at $8000.
Six Tropically Adapted Taurus (TAT’s) topped at $7500. In all the 25 composites set a $5500 average.
Topping proceedings and new breed record holder was the $27,000 5 Star M71013, a 22-month, 772kg, 12/9mm, 133EMA son of Antigua Dalgada (CBN Alcoota) selling in a three quarter share full possession arrangement to Chris Simpson, CAP Genomics, Brisbane.
CAP Genomics took three to average $13,167. Regular supporters, Alistair and Jo McClymont, Burleigh Station, Richmond acting again through Ken Roche, Marlborough, took four Senepols for an average $10,125. These included the $13,000 5 Star M70782 a 17-month-old, 678kg delivering a rib eye measurement of 110sq cm. M70782 was the first sale progeny of one of the studs leading sires, 5 Star Hefner 140634.
Another of the long term clients to reinvest was Phil and Shirley Corlis, Glen Galla Station, Richmond. They purchased three to average $9667 topping at $12,000 for a 22-month-old, 802kg, son of 5 Star 120015.
Shane Watts, Sonoma Grazing, Sonoma Station, Collinsville picked up four for a $6625 topping at $10,000.
Ken Braithwaite, Winchester Downs, Moranbah returned to take with him five for on average $6000.
Gibson Pastoral Company, Olinda Park Dalby took another single purchase, the $13,500 M70700 (23-months) (784kg) (126EMA).
The Heslin Group, Hilton Park, Julia Creek acting through Shane Stafford Stock and Property took five to average $5400 topping at $8000, while Heslin and Sons, Barrine ended with a pair to average $6750.
Taking five to average $6000 was Mick and Karen Nobbs, Mt Vexation, Springsure. Also collecting five where the Wedel family, Zarpt Farming Company, Muidart Station, Dysart for on average $5600.
Liveringa Station, Derby, WA ended with a trio topping at $5000 twice.
