Monto Cattle and Country’s fortnightly fat and store sale saw 320 head yarded. The quality of fat cattle yarded slipped but prices were dearer, while more feeder weight cattle were yarded than light weaners. Feedlots chased both steers and heifers with heifers obtaining the most gains of up to 20c/kg for the better types.
Heavy bulls sold from 245c to 272c topping at $2750. Only a handful of bullocks were penned and sold for 269c or $1655.
Richie and Bron Bowman, Layback Downs, sold Charbray cows to 239c or $1235. Harry Ball sold 436kg Brahman cows to 235c or $1025 and six tooth heifers to $926 or 239c. Gordon Brian’s Charolais cross cows returned $1510 or 236c.
AG and TM Sibson sold Charbray No 7 steers 367kg for 267c or $980. C and F Lewis sold Angus cross No 7 steers 357kg for 270c or $965 and Belmont Euro cross steers 343kg for 269c. Dale Brown and family sold 334kg Charolais cross No 8 grain assisted steers for $890 or 266c. PF Breitkreutz and DG Johnston sold quality Angus Brangus cross No 8 steers 280kg to 267c or $746 and 337kg steers to return $880. Les and Val Hotz sold a pen of Braford weaner steers 228kg for $587.
Coominglah Grazing sold a run of Charbray Red Brangus and Brahman cross No 7 heifers from 250c to 258c topping at $845. BC, J and PL Pownall, Ubobo sold Droughtmaster Brahman cross No 7 heifers for 256c or $805. MD, RJ and WJ Brown sold grain assisted Charolais Droughtmaster cross No 8 heifers for 240c or $793. Anthony and Helen Webb sold light Droughtmaster weaner heifers for 212c or $475. George Augenstein Jnr sold light Simbrah weaner heifers for 239c or $370.
