CQLX agents yarded a total of 2976 head at Gracemere on Friday, 1182 up on last week, comprising of 1269 steers and bullocks, 1215 heifers, 342 cows, 111 cows and calves and 39 bulls and mickeys.
The cattle were drawn from local areas along with lines from Collinsville, Ayr, Mackay, Clermont and Springsure. Quality was good through most of the yarding, although there were more light conditioned cattle penned. The market saw solid lifts for meatworks and feeder cattle, but with the dry conditions continuing, there was little change on previous week’s rates for cattle returning the paddock.
Slaughter steers sold to 289.2c, average 265.9c, steers 400-500kg made 273.2c, average 255c, steers 300-400kg reached 268.2c, average 248.8c, steers 200-300kg made 274.2c, average 233.9c and steers under 200kg sold to 246.2c, average 221.4c.
Slaughter cows sold to 246.2c, average 217.5c, cows 400-450kg made 250.2c, average 204c, cows 320-400kg reached 230.2c, average 157.4c, and cows under 320kg made 92.2c, average 43.3c.
Heavy heifers sold to 250c, average 219.5c, heifers 300-400kg made 244.2c, average 227.2c, heifers 200-300kg reached 244.2c, average 209.4c, and heifers under 200kg made 218.2c, average 188.2c.
Cows and calves sold to $1025/unit, average $729/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 239.2c, average 224.9c, bulls 450-600kg reached 244.2c, average 213.2c and bulls under 450kg sold to 250.2c, average 210.7c.
