Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2450 on Wednesday September 12, cattle consisting of 1647 prime cattle and 776 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 753 bullocks, 120 heifers, 571 cows and 230 bulls.
Store cattle consisted of 107 steers, 66 heifers, and 41 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised of good line of heavy bullocks and cows with some showing signs of dry weather. The yarding from Corfield, Burketown, Mount Garnet, HomeHill, Belyando, Greenvale and coastal areas. Bullocks were quoted 6c dearer. Heifers were 2c dearer and cows were 3c dearer on last week’s rates.

Heifers under 440kg sold to 248.2c and averaged 218.3c, while heifers over 440kg topped at 259.2c, averaging 257.3c. Cows under 400kg made 198.2c and averaged 162.5c, while cows over 400kg reached 228.2c, averaging 197.5c. Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 266.2c and averaged 231.4c, and those over 500kg topped at 269.2c to average 257.7c. Bulls under 450kg made 232.2c and averaged 211.1c, while bulls over 450kg reached 247.2c to average 217.6c.
Bullocks topped at 269.2c for 14 sold on a/c EJT & KL Camp that weighed 574kg to return $1545/head.
A pen of trade heifers presented on a/c W & G West sold for 258c, weighing 477kg to return $1232/hd.
Top pen of cows were sold by J.C Bethel P/Ltd for 228.2c weighing 639kg to return $1454.
Bull sold on A/c Callan Farming topped at 244.2c and weighing 763kg to return $1862..
