CQLX combined agents yarded 1844 head at Friday’s Gracemere sale comprising 934 steers and bullocks, 489 heifers, 234 cows, 24 cows and calves and 145 bulls and mickeys.
Most of the yarding were drawn from local areas. The buying group were keen with more restocker orders and processors keener to acquire cattle. Market change showed an improving trend with the exception of the plainer and lighter conditioned heifers which eased slightly.
Slaughter steers sold to 278c, average 264c, steers 400-500kg made 276c, average 254c, steers 300-400kg reached 270c, average 248c, steers 200-300kg made 282c, average 245c and steers under 200kg sold to 266c, average 238c.
Slaughter cows sold to 243c, average 214c, cows 400-450kg made 218c, average 189c, cows 320-400kg reached 190c, average 147c, and cows under 320kg made 156c, average 113c.
Heavy heifers sold to 248c, average 240c, heifers 300-400kg made 240c, average 224c, heifers 200-300kg reached 234c, average 194c, and heifers under 200kg made 224c, average 183c.
Cows and calves sold to $1240/unit, average $1024/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 237c, average 228c, bulls 450-600kg reached 241c, average 230c and bulls under 450kg sold to 246c, average 213c.
M Shamburg, Kabra, sold bullocks for 278c weighing 796kg to return $2216. J Bell, Bouldercombe, sold Droughtmaster steers for 276c weighing 500kg to return $1381.
Darnelle Grazing Co, Ridgelands, sold Charbray No8 steers for 280c weighing 231kg to return $648. They also sold Charbray heifers for 234c weighing 225kg to return $528.
G Tucker, Bouldercombe, sold Brahman heifers for 248c weighing 404kg to return $1003. KJ Smoothy, Theodore, sold Braford cross heifers for 237c weighing 406kg to return $963. VP Olive, Granite Vale, sold Brahman cows to 230c weighing 572kg to return $1317. Tarcoola Cattle Co, Dingo, sold Brangus cross steers to 262c weighing 245kg to return $641.
