THE Dunlop family's on-property Dunlop Santa sale at Jingeri, Proston, proved a red hot event with bids cracking $26,000.
Sale topper was the poll Dunlop Statesman N354 (by Dangerfield U2 U031 (P), which sold to Neil and Rosalie Watson, Watasanta, Tamworth.
Mr Watson said he selected Statesman because he ticked all the boxes and would be joined to 35 preselected females.
“First he was a poll, had a dark slick coat a 42cm scrotal measurement and a 140sq cm eye muscle area,” Mr Watson said. “He also had an impeccable temperament.”
Second top at $24,000 was Dunlop Showboat N236 (P), bought by Boyd and Susan Rohde, Narromine Santas, Goondiwindi. The 22-month-old homozygous poll with a 133sq cm EMA entered the sale ring weighing 926kg.
Also in top money at $23,000 was Dunlop Shamrock N802, bought by Shaun and Mindy Durdin, Heathwood, Springsure. Shamrock, by Eidsvold Station E284, had a 137sq cm EMA.
The sale recorded a 90 per cent clearance, with 85 bulls averaging an impressive $9217.
WG&SE Blakeney, Coondoo bought Dunlop Smith and Wesson for $18,000. The poll Dunlop Southpaw sold for the same money to C&D Gauld, Bethlee, Drillham. Dangarfield Cattle Company, Kingswood, Taroom, also paid $18,000 for the poll Swoosh.
Jaletto, Taroom, paid $17,000 for the poll Superman, who had a 134sq cm EMA.
Volume buyer with seven was Eungy Pastoral Company, Milparinka, Blackall. The draft included a poll bull for $13,000.
Geoff Pedersen and Sons, Wyseby, Rolleston, bought four including $10,000 for Dunlop Sultan N308, a horned bull by Bullamakinka Kong.
Karen Dunlop, Esk, bought three including Dunlop Sumo for $15,000.
Selling agents were Landmark, Shepherdson & Boyd, and GDL along with Elite Livestock Auctions.
