A good line-up at the Tremere Pastoral African genetics bull sale attracted a large crowd of commercial beef cattle buyers on Friday.

Held at Moura Saleyards, the helmsmann style bull sale achieved a solid average price for bulls during the sale of $5116.

“It’s been a very dry season in our region, so preparation of the bulls was more difficult this year but we are happy with how these bulls came up and are ready to go to work in commercial cattle operations,” Mr Hudson said.

Top priced bull of the sale, a 616 kilogram Bonsmara/Belmont-cross sire, sold to long-time repeat buyer Angus Macrae and family, Kilmory, Moura for $8500.

The 22-month-old commercially focused polled bull had a very high tick resistance rating with a docile temperament, plus 5 millimetres of fat on the rump and 4 millimetres of fat on the rib area and 100 centimetre squared eye muscle area.
