A turn in the season is required to stop the cattle market declining any further. Monto Cattle and Country yarded 620 head for their fortnightly fat and store sale with markets dropping a further 15-20c/kg. The quality of store cattle remained strong but some quality in the cows section was back.
Heavy bulls sold from 176c to 223c/kg topping at $2057 for heavy Brahman bulls account Boogal Cattle Co. KWS Partnership sold 580kg Charbray cross bullocks to 252c or $1460. Russ and Teina McLurcan sold Droughtmaster steers 489kg for 251c or $1228. Richard and Denise Edgar sold 580kg Brahman cows for $1166 or 201c. Molly Blyton sold Charbray cows 515kg for 198c or $1020. Roy Marbachs’ 507kg store cows sold for 130c to 165c/kg.
Crabby Mountain Partnership sold a run of EU weaners with the steers selling to 237c or $542 and heifers to 205c or $390. C and A Anger sold Santa steers 243c to 246c or $600. Qld Pastoral sold Brangus weaners to 248c or $577. Alan and Helen Clifford, Talgai, sold Santa and Angus cross feeder heifers from 200c to 210c topping at $805.
J, F & C Younger’s light trade heifers 381kg sold to 205c or $782. Leon Turner sold Charbray and Brahman feeder heifers from 185c to 212c topping at $790. Darren and Jason Wyatte sold grey Brahman No 7 heifers for $747 or 214c. Ron Ogle sold Droughtmaster cross weaner heifers to 200c or $422.
