Emerald Agents yarded just under 1300 head at the weekly sale on Thursday August 16. A good panel of buyers were present seeing light weight cattle increase slightly in rate on the back of the better quality on offer. Mostly all slaughter categories lost ground with feeder weights also quoting cheaper.
Bullocks over 550kg made to 263c/kg to average 248c, with steers 500-550kg making to 244c to average 234c, steers 400-500kg topped at 248c to average 233c, with steers 350-400kg making to 258c to average 209c, 280-350kg steers reached 279c to average 247c, while steers in the weaner weight ranges made to 298c to average 264c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg made to 225c to average 196c, while heifers 350-400kg made to 226c to average 210c, with heifers 280-350kg reaching 228c to average 197c, while heifers in the weaner weight ranges made to 200c to average 163c. Cows over 520kg topped at 193c to average 186c, with cows 450-520kg reaching 187c to average 175c.
