The Hopgood family received good support from regular buyers at their tenth annual sale at the Clermont Saleyards on Friday.
The Moonie-based Charolais stud based on Palgrove genetics sold 38 of the 43 bulls they put through the sale ring, recording an 88 per cent clearance rate.
Clermont’s Levi and Abbey Rickertt, Manar, paid the top price of $12,000 for Hopwood Merchant, sired by Palgrove Hallmark, and described by the sellers as a stud sire in the making.
An average of $5200 was recorded, slightly less than last year, but Mark Hopgood said they had been pleased with the result, considering how dry many parts of the state still were.
