More than 150 pineapple growers, agronomists, wholesalers and retailers will converge in north Queensland next week for the Elders 2018 Pineapple Field Days.
Growcom welcomes members of the pineapple industry from far and wide to the town of Rollingstone, 50 minutes north of Townsville, on July 19 and 20.
The annual event will be hosted by third-generation farmer and Australian Pineapple chairman Stephen Pace at his family’s 200 hectare pineapple plantation.
Over the course of the field days, attendees will visit local pineapple farms to witness trials of products and crop technologies to stimulate plant and soil health.
Liquid fertiliser manufacturer Agrichem will do trials at Pace Farming and fertiliser distributor E.E. Muir & Sons will be testing TRANSFORMER, a soil wetting aid and soil penetrant to improve penetration, distribution and drainage of water, at Accorsini Farm.
Meanwhile, Berra Farming will trial Great Land, a biological product based on genome interactions between six plant growth promoting bacteria and plants and soils.
Growcom’s chief advocate Rachel Mackenzie will also facilitate an oversupply forum to discuss the pineapple industry’s glut crisis.
The much anticipated Gala Dinner at Pace Farming is set to be bigger and better than ever before with a cash bar, lucky door prizes, mystery guests, entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display.
In association with Australian Pineapples, Growcom is proud to continue the tradition of the Pineapple Field Days, one of the biggest events in our growers’ calendars.
We have hired a charter bus to transport attendees travelling from outside north Queensland from Townsville airport to their selected accommodation, as well as to and from the on-farm pineapple trials.
The Elders 2018 Pineapple Field Days are generously sponsored by Elders, Organic Crop Protectants, Landscape Skills, Exodas, CDIF Solar, E.E.
