THE property officially recognised as being at the exact centre of Queensland has sold. Offered by John and Joy Hardie, the 12,184 hectare (30,106 acre) freehold property sold for an undisclosed price to Elizabeth and Charles Elliott from Boulia.
It is the first time Verastan has been offered in 64 years. It is located 125km north of Longreach and 28km north west of Muttaburra.
The country is described as undulating open Mitchell grass downs country with some coolibah creek lines. The property is noted for its picturesque hills, which offer a potential tourism opportunity.
There are also two flowing artesian bores, which is piped to supply tanks and troughs across the property.
Improvements include a four bedroom homestead with a large cold room, sheds, hangar, two sets of cattle yard, sheep yards and a six stand shearing shed. The homestead features large living areas and is set in established gardens.
The property is divided into 11 main grazing paddocks, laneways and holding paddocks.
