Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 1376 head on June 13 consisting of 588 prime cattle and 788 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 132 bullocks, 41 heifers, 359 cows and 56 bulls. Store cattle were made up of 574 steers, 198 heifers and 16 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised of smaller lines of bullocks with larger lines of mixed quality cows. Bulls on offer here were still selling to competitive rates. The yarding was drawn from Einasleigh, Richmond, Mt Surprise, local and coastal areas. Bullocks were quoted 8c easier, heifers were 5c dearer, cows were 5c dearer and bulls were 2.5c easier on last week’s rates.

Heifers up to 440kg made 221.2c to average 197.1c, heavy heifers over 440kg sell to 221.2c to average 200.1c. Medium cows up to 400kg sold to 160.2c to average 128.7c. Heavy cows over 193.2c to average 169.5c.
Steers and bullocks up to 500kg sold to 248.2c to average 214.2c, heavy steers over 500kg sold to 247.2c to average 229.7c.
Bulls up to 450kg made 229.2c to average 210.2c, bulls over 450kg sold to 270.2c to average 242.7c.
Bullocks topped at 246.2c/kg for 10 head sold on a/c GP&LJ Cameron weighing 541kg to return $1331.
Top priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Pajingo Pastoral Company making 221.2c to weigh 410kg and return $906.
The top pen of cows were sold by LP Farming and Grazing for 190.2c and weighed 506kg to return $962.
Bulls sold on a/c Campbell Grazing topped at 270.2c and weighed 512kg to return $1384.

Steers up to 200kg made 304.2c to average 286.7c, steers 200-320kg sold to 294.2c to average 251.8c, steers 320-400kg sold to 234.2c to average 211.8c, while steers over 400kg sold to 200c to average 200c.
Heifers up to 200kg made 214.2c to average 208.4c, heifers 200-320kg sold to 218.2c to average 184.2c, while heifers 320-370kg topped 198.2c to average 190.7c.
Store cattle consisted of larger lines of good quality store steers which sold to a competitive buyer panel. Heifers also strengthened however they were in smaller lines.
A pen of 25 steers a/c N&R Hughes, made 304.2c and weighed 152kg and returning an average of $464.
A good pen of 8 heifers a/c JH&L Smith, made 218.2c, weighed 255kg and returned an average of $556.
Two cows and calves sold on a/c MW Sladden, returned $900 per unit.
