THE Queensland Outback Barbarians are looking to make a clean sweep of its 2018 US tour when it lines up against the Little Rock Stormers in Arkansas on Tuesday evening (local time).
Despite a carrying a few niggling injuries, the undefeated touring side drawn from across country Queensland goes in confident it can make it the seventh win in three weeks.
Outback Barbarians co-captain David West (Gladstone) said the team was looking forward to playing on a full sized field.
“We’ve been forced to play some pretty compressed rugby on the smaller US fields,” West said.
“It great to see that Little Rock has a full sized field that should suit our natural running game.
“Of course the platform will need to be set by the forwards from the kick off to create the opportunities out wide.”
The outside backs have dominated the scoring on the tour to date. Winger Dudley Miles (Cairns) leads the pack on eight, followed by Colby Mason (Townsville) on seven and Adam Conway (Gladstone) on six.
The run on team to play the Stormers is: 1. Cameron Knights. 2. Barney Watts. 3. Alaistair Costello. 4. Jai Blakey. 5. Nick Ein. 6. Sam Schmidt. 7. John Moloney. 8. Tubby Heron. 9. Adam Ebert. 10. Andrew Kennedy. 11. Dudley Miles. 12. Andrew Kliese. 13. Sam Fairweather. 14. Adam Conway. 15. David West.
The Little Rock Stormers are considered one of the harder teams the Outback Barbarians will encounter. The Division One team competes in the Texas Rugby Union.
Kick off is at 6pm Tuesday local time. (9am Wednesday Queensland time.)
