Detectives from the Charters Towers Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) are investigating a suspected dog baiting offence in Charters Towers that resulted in the death of two dogs.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a property on Bluff Road.
The male resident awoke at 6.30am to find his two dogs deceased in his backyard. It appears both dogs had consumed a meat product left on the property.
Police believe the meat was left intentionally on the property and have commenced an investigation.
“This is a cruel and unjustified incident which has resulted in the death of two pet dogs. We urge anyone with information on this offence to come forward,” Detective Senior Sergeant Jim Lacey, MOCS northern area coordinator, said.
