THE annual Emerald Show Weaner and Feeder Sale was the first of four Central Queensland sales to be held this week.
The sale yarded 4900 head, down from the advertised 6950.
Prices held steady, with genuine heavy feeder steers topping at 263c/kg to average 254c, weaner steers making to 306c for an overall average of 288c, feed heifers topping at 237c to average 230c, and weaner heifers topping at 275c.
Among those selling were Mick and Sue Burridge, Suzanne Park, Emerald, who sold 51 head of Angus/Droughtmaster/Brahman cross cattle. The pens of feeder steers weighing an average of 428kg sold for an average 251c to make $1077.
The show and sale saw Ken and Deidre Copping of Rolleston win the feeder steer class, Ross and Toni Kajewski took out the weaner steers, the feeder heifers class was won by Mark and Nat Lane of Anakie, and the weaner heifers crown went to Aaron Stranks of Anakie for a second year in a row.
