THE Outback Barbarians will line up against Florida side Boca Raton using the same hard hitting run-on side used in New Orleans a week ago.
Coach Mike Bishop said he was looking for impact from the kick-off.
“We’ve had four physical games and plenty of training sessions that have really set us up well on this tour,” Bishop said.
“Across the squad we are seeing some terrific combinations develop as the confidence of the individuals and the trust between the players grow.
“We go into Monday night’s game really not knowing what to expect, but we certainly always bank on tough opposition. The one thing all of these US teams have in common is big, mobile players that can hit hard.
“We have to be able to handle that and then use our skills to get us where we want to be on the score board.”
The Outback Barbarians have won four of their seven tour matches so far. Those wins have included a 33-0 effort against New Orleans – the only team to have ever beaten the Queensland side twice.
The run-on team is:
1. Cameron Knights. 2. Tom Hewitt. 3. Alaistair Costello. 4. Jai Blakey. 5. Nick Ein. 6. Sam Schmidt. 7. John Moloney. 8. Tubby Heron. 9. Damon Hesp. 10. Andrew Kennedy. 11. Adam Conway. 12. Tom Butcher. 13. Colby Mason. 14. Dudley Miles. 15. David West.
The Queensland Outback Barbarians play the Boca Raton Buccaneers at 7pm on June 4. (9am, June 5 Queensland time.)
Co-captain Cameron Knights (St George) said he wanted his forwards to play tight, hard rugby.
“These hot and humid conditions in Florida mean we need to use our energy are efficiently as we possibly can,” Knights said.
“The more we go forward straight down centre of the park the better off we are.”
